Main Body

The machine does not operate even if the sub power switch is turned ON.

Is the power plug firmly inserted in wall socket?

Firmly insert the power plug in wall socket.

Is the main power switch turned ON?

Keep the main power switch turned ON usually.

Is the Power Save LED ON?

The machine cannot be turned on due to the Weekly Timer. Use the machine at other times, or contact your administrator.

Is the screen for user/account authentication displayed?

Enter the necessary information for user/account authentication.

Copying does not begin.

Is the left/right side door of the machine open?

Securely close the left/right side door of the machine.

Is there appropriate paper size in a tray?

Load the paper size selected for the original.

Is the print quantity set to [0]?

Enter an appropriate number for print quantity.

Is the finisher/folding unit/large capacity stacker door open?

Securely close the finisher door, folding unit door, and large capacity stacker door.

Copy image is not clean or shows spots.

Is the original glass clean?

Wipe the original glass, if necessary.

Is the original document clean?

Erase spots on the original, if any.

Is the density adjustment made properly?

Manually specify copy density to select an appropriate exposure level.

Copy image is too light.

Is the density adjustment made properly?

Manually specify copy density to select an appropriate exposure level.

Is the message "Please add toner" displayed on the [MACHINE] screen?

Add toner.

Copy quality is poor.

Is copy paper damp?

Replace the paper, if necessary.

Copying does not resume after mishandled paper is removed.

Is any mishandled paper left?

Check copier diagram on the screen for additional indications of mishandled paper.

2->1 or 2->2 mode cannot be selected.

Is ADF open?

Fully close ADF.

Using user/account authentication, copies cannot be made after password is entered.

Is the message [limit reached] displayed?

Contact your administrator.

ADF

ADF cannot be used after Reset is pressed.

Is ADF slightly open?

Fully close ADF.

Original paper cannot be fed.

Is ADF slightly open?

Fully close ADF.

Does the original type conform to the specifications?

Change the original paper to any of the recommended size and weight.

Are originals correctly loaded?

Position originals properly in ADF.

Finisher FS-532

Does not operate.

Is any mishandled paper left inside Finisher?

Check for paper misfeed and remove it, as required.

Is finisher front door slightly open?

Securely close the finisher front door.

Staples are incorrectly positioned (rotated by 90 degrees) in copies.

Is Image Rotation activated?

Reload copy paper in appropriate direction.

Output sheets skew in the sets and cannot be stapled in position.

Is paper excessively curled?

Reload the paper upside down into the tray.

Paper misfeed frequently occurs inside.

Are the side guides of the selected tray aligned to paper?

Make sure the side guides are securely aligned to paper in the tray to be used.

Printed sheets cannot be stapled in position.

Is paper excessively curled?

Reload the paper upside down into the tray.

Printed sheets cannot be delivered neatly to the secondary (sub) tray.

Do output sheets reach to the edge of the secondary (sub) tray?

Temporarily release the lock of the secondary (sub) tray to be raised slightly.

Using the staple finisher mode, copies cannot be stapled.

Is the message [Pull out staple finisher stacker then, set staples in stapler] displayed in the message area? Or, is the Staple Cartridge Supply indicator on the [MACHINE] screen lighting up in red?

Pull out the finisher stacker and supply staples.

Is the message [Staple scrap box is full] displayed?

Pull out the finisher stacker and dispose the stapler scrap.

Finisher mounted with Saddle Stitcher SD-510 does not staple copies despite the fold & staple function.

Is the message [Pull out staple finisher saddle unit then, set staples in stapler] displayed on the message area? Or, is the Staple Cartridge Supply indicator on the [MACHINE] screen lighting up in red?

Pull out the saddle unit of the finisher and supply staples for the Saddle Stitcher.

Finisher mounted with Punch Kit PK-522 does not punch copies despite being set to punch mode.

Is the message [Scrap of punch kit is full / Please empty scrap box] displayed? Or, is the Punch-Hole Scraps Box indicator on the [MACHINE] screen lighting up in red?

Open the front door of the finisher and pull out the punch-hole scrap box to dump the scrap.

Finisher FS-531/FS-612

Does not operate.

Is any mishandled paper left inside the finisher?

Check for paper misfeed and remove it, as required.

Is finisher front door slightly open?

Securely close the finisher front door.

Staples are incorrectly positioned (rotated by 90 degrees) in copies.

Is Image Rotation activated?

Reload copy paper in appropriate direction.

Copies skew in the output sets and cannot be stapled or punched in position.

Is paper excessively curled?

Reload the paper upside down into the tray.

Are the side guides of the selected tray (or paper guides of PI tray) aligned to paper?

Make sure the side guides (or paper guides) are securely aligned to paper in the tray to be used.

Using Punch mode, printed sheets cannot be punched.

Does the Punch-Hole Scraps Box indicator light in red on the [MACHINE] screen?

Empty the scrap box of the punch kit.

Printed sheets cannot be stapled in position.

Is paper excessively curled?

Reload the paper upside down into the tray.

Saddle Stitcher SD-506

Using trimming function, printed sheets cannot be trimmed.

Does the Saddle Stitcher Trim Scrap indicator light in red on the [MACHINE] screen?

Empty the scrap box of Saddle Stitcher SD-506.

Saddle Stitcher SD-513

Using the cut edge trimming function, printed sheets cannot be trimmed.

Does the trim scrap box indicator light red on the [MACHINE] screen?

Empty the cut edge scrap box of Saddle Stitcher SD-513.

Using the 2-side slitting function, printed sheets cannot be trimmed.

Does the trim scrap box indicator light red on the [MACHINE] screen?

Empty the 2-side slitting scrap box of Saddle Stitcher SD-513.

Perfect Binder PB-503

Using Perfect Bind mode, printed sheets cannot be bound.

Does the front door, perfect binder tray cover, or glue hopper cover of Perfect Binder PB-503 open?

Securely close the front door, perfect binder tray cover, and glue hopper cover of Perfect Binder PB-503.

Multi Punch GP-501

Copies cannot be punched on the multi punch despite being set to punch mode.

Is the message [Multi puncher scrap box is full / Please empty scrap box] displayed? Or, is the Punch-Hole Scrap Box Full indicator on the [MACHINE] Screen lighting up in red?

Open the front door of the multi punch and pull out the punchhole
scrap box to dump the scrap.

Auto Ring Binder GP-502

Using the ring bind function, printed sheets cannot be
ring-bound.

Is the message [Punch scrap box of ring binder is full / Please empty scrap box] displayed? Or, is the Punch-Hole Scrap Box Full indicator on the [MACHINE] Screen lighting up in red?

Open the front door of the ring binder and pull out the punch-hole scrap box to dump the scrap.

Authentication Unit (IC Card Authentication Type) AU-201S

The status indicator LED does not light in green even after the USB cable of Authentication Unit (IC Card Authentication Type) AU-201S is connected to the USB port of the main body.

A possible cause can be malfunction of the USB port of the main body.

Turn OFF the main power switch of the main body, then disconnect the USB cable of Authentication Unit (IC Card Authentication Type) AU-201S from the USB port of the main body. Reconnect it, then wait 10 seconds or longer before turning the main power switch ON again.

IC Card

IC cards cannot be authenticated.

Is Authentication Unit (IC Card Authentication Type) AU-201S connected to the USB port of the main body?

Securely connect the USB cable of Authentication Unit (IC Card Authentication Type) AU-201S to the USB port of the main body.

Is the machine set to use the USB port?

Contact your administrator.
