Procedure of [Both Sides Adjust]

The following shows the procedure for the [Both Sides Adjust].

  1. Checking the reference position of the printing side .

To determine the misalignment of printing position, the adjustment of the reference position required on the main body side must be completed.

Before performing the [Both Sides Adjust], check the adjusted value of the reference position and make adjustment as needed.

The following items of [Adjustment] - [Machine Adjustment] - [Printer Adjustment] on the [MACHINE] screen are adjustment items that need to be checked:

Adjust the front side in the following order, and then adjust the back side in the same order.

    [FD-Mag. Adjustment] - [CD-Mag. Adjustment] - [Restart Timing Adjustment] - [Centering Adjustment]

    • The adjustment for the reference position of the print side is an advanced adjustment. Contact your service representative in advance of the adjustment.

  2. Performing [Both Sides Adjustment] per Tray.

The adjustment can be made using one of the following five methods: (The [AutoMeasure] adjustment is not available on a machine that is not equipped with Intelligent Quality Optimizer IQ-501.)

    • [AutoMeasure] adjustment: the method used to scan both sides of adjustment charts using Intelligent Quality Optimizer IQ-501 and automatically make the both-side adjustment.->AutoMeasure adjustment

    • [Scan Meas.] adjustment: the method used for aligning both sides with correction of the back side magnification and print position based on the front side ones. Will automatically adjust the both side adjustment with a scanner functions of this machine.->Scan Meas. Adjustment

    • [Gap] adjustment: the method used for aligning both sides with correction of the back side magnification and print position based on the front side ones.->Gap Adjustment

    • [Chart Adjustment]: the method used for aligning both sides with correction of the magnification and print position of both front and back side.->Chart Adjustment

    • [Zoom]/[Image Shift] adjustment: the method used for fine adjustment after [Scan Meas.] adjustment, [Gap] adjustment, or [Chart Adjustment], or the method used when the amount of misalignment between both sides is figured out.->Zoom/Image Shift Adjustment

  • If rotation or skew is detected on the entire image when printing, you can use [Scan Meas.] adjustment or [Rotate/Skew] to adjust the rotation and degree of skew. For details, refer to Scan Meas. Adjustment or Rotate/Skew Adjustment.

  • When changing the paper type of the tray or ensuring the accuracy of the print image size (Zoom) and position (Image Shift), first perform the front side adjustment in [Front] - [Zoom] / [Image Shift] or [Chart Adjustment], then perform the back side adjustment in [Scan Meas.] or [Back] - [Chart Adjustment].

  • You can change the default screen of the [Both Sides Adjust] screen. For details, contact your service representative. (You cannot set the [AutoMeasure] adjustment screen to the default on a machine that is not equipped with Intelligent Quality Optimizer IQ-501.)

  • When test charts are output for [AutoMeasure] adjustment, [Scan Meas.]adjustment, [Gap] adjustment, [Chart Adjustment] adjustment, and [Rotate/Skew] adjustment, [Full Color] is specified by default.
When all the printout pages are printed in black and white, select [Black].
