Overview of Heater

The Perfect Binder PB-503 has an inner heater to add heat to glue pellets for making perfect-bound books. It requires approximately 20 minutes of warmup time to melt the pellets to be ready for the operation.

Adding heat continuously to glue pellets, however, may deteriorate them if the Perfect Binder PB-503 is kept unoperated.

To prevent the deterioration of glue pellets, the heater of the perfect binder is designed to be turned off automatically in the following condition.

One minute after a perfect binding job is completed.
One minute after completion of the warmup if any operation has not been made on the perfect binder

To Turn on the Heater of the Perfect Binder

The perfect binder heater does not automatically start warm-up even if the sub power switch is turned on.

When Perfect Bind is selected on the Output Setting or a print job for perfect binding is received, the perfect binder heater starts warm-up automatically.

If you know the time to use Perfect Binder PB-503 in advance, count backward the heater warm-up time, and press ON of the perfect binder heater switch on the MACHINE screen to manually turn on.

When you press ON of the perfect binder heater switch on the MACHINE screen, the perfect binder heater starts warm-up. Then, message PB Shut Off in the right of the perfect binder heater switch changes to message PB Warming Up.

When Perfect Binder PB-503 is ready, the message changes to PB Heater.

You can configure a setting to automatically start warming up the perfect binder heater when the sub power switch is turned on. For details, contact your service representative.

NOTICE

Once started, the warmup of the heater is not interrupted even when the Auto Low Power/ Auto Shut Off functions on the main body. If you press Function OFF or Reset on the control panel to reset perfect binder settings after selecting Perfect Bind on the Output Setting screen, the machine does not stop warming up the perfect binder heater. When you do not use Perfect Binder PB-503, press OFF of the perfect binder heater switch, and turn the perfect binder heater off.

To Turn off the Heater of the Perfect Binder

When the job using perfect binder is completed, the heater of the perfect binder is automatically turned off in one minute.

The heater is also turned off automatically in one minute if any operation has not been made on the Perfect Binder PB-503 after completion of the warmup.

The heater can be turned off manually by pressing the heater switch for the perfect binder OFF on the MACHINE screen while warming up or ready for operation.

Pressing the heater switch for the perfect binder OFF does not function if any perfect binding jobs are entered.

Reference

Service can set the heater not to be turned off automatically after one-minute interval from a job completion. For details, contact your service representative. In this case, the heater is not turned off till the Auto Low Power/Auto Shut Off functions on the main body. Be careful not to allow the glue pellets to deteriorate.
